Immediate Dentures

An immediate denture is a complete denture, or partial denture if only removing some teeth in one arch, inserted on the same day immediately following the removal of natural teeth. With an immediate denture the patient is never without something that looks like teeth. The patient is seen for adjustments to the immediate denture during the healing process, and then the immediate denture is relined in three months after the initial surgery. Immediate dentures are great for preserving a patient’s natural bite.

Dentures

Conventional Dentures

Conventional dentures are a fully removable prosthetic device for patients without teeth. Dentures are custom made to the shape of your mouth, and placed after the mouth has completely healed from having teeth removed. Often times patients have problems with retention of a lower denture; this is when Dr. Meyer will talk to the patient about an implant-retained or implant-supported denture.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are a fully removable prosthetic device used to replace areas of missing teeth on an arch that is partially edentulous. This is a great option for patients when needing to restore multiple areas of missing teeth with one device, and on patients whom are not candidate for multiple implants or bridges. Partials can have metal, or partials can be completely metal-free and fairly flexible. Dr. Meyer will gladly discuss all the options with you, and let you know which type of partial denture would be the best candidate for restoring your areas of missing teeth.
